Old Town
Edinburgh’s iconic and historic Old Town is the beating heart and soul of the city. It encompasses all the world-famous spots like Edinburgh Castle, sitting on its imposing volcanic rock; the Royal Mile with its cobbled streets and mysterious closes; the Grassmarket with its weekly food market, its artisan eateries and famed pubs; the cobbled, winding Victoria Street, with its colourful independent shops and restaurants, the inspiration behind Harry Potter’s Diagon Alley. It’s also home to one of our firm favourites, located just at the bottom of Grassmarket, Mary’s Milk Bar, which offers local, delicious gelato throughout the summer season. You’ll be walking up and down ancient steps, exploring atmospheric lanes, discovering countless restaurants, bars, coffee shops, and coming across something exciting around every corner.
Start your day with a ‘life feels good’ coffee at the soulful Milkman; take a break from exploring with a drink at the cool and atmospheric Devil’s Advocate; and end the day in style at the candle-lit, gothic-style The Witchery, in a stunning lane just steps from the Castle.
