A Family Friendly Stay in Edinburgh

Finding the right accommodation sets the tone for any family adventure in a new city. When travelling with your family, having easy access to further transport and core amenities is a new negotiable.

Our elegant Haymarket Apartments are ideal for family trips to the city. Situated in Edinburgh's vibrant West End, they provide immediate access to pubs, restaurants, and Murrayfield Stadium—a short tram ride away. Perfect for Rugby season.

Malones

One of our favourite recommendations for staying in the West End of Edinburgh is Malones—a vibrant Irish pub with a warm atmosphere and delicious food.

The venue is always home to a mix of live music and sports, so it makes a great place to enjoy a rugby game. The pub is also family-friendly, allowing children until 8 pm, making it a great place to bring everyone along.

The entertainment options don’t stop there. Of course, after a good plate of food and an accompanying atmosphere, make the most of the city by heading up to Old Town and discovering where the City began.

Some of our favourite hotspots include:

  • Camera Obscura - The perfect location for a family day out, with a 360 view of Edinburgh alongside unique optical illusions.

  • City of the Dead Tours - Haunting ghost tours that explore the underground city and Greyfriars Kirkyard.

  • Edinburgh Castle - Home to many historical figures, including Mary Queen of Scots.

Food & Drink

After a day of exploring the city, indulge yourself in something tasty:

Croccante & Co

This charming Italian deli, tucked away on Lyndoch Place, is a real gem in the West End. The counter is filled with a tempting selection of breads, cheeses, cured meats and homemade fillings, making it the perfect stop whether you need a quick bite on the go or a leisurely snack to enjoy with a coffee.

From classic combinations to more inventive flavours, you can easily tailor your sandwich to suit whatever you’re in the mood for. Pair it with one of their rich Italian coffees or a sweet treat from the counter, and you’ve got yourself a delicious way to set you up for a day of exploring the city.

Café MILK

Milk Café, situated on Morrison Street, is a charming, independent café serving fresh breakfast and lunch options.

Whether you fancy just a quality hot beverage or a full Scottish breakfast, you're bound to find something to your liking.

Fancying something sweeter? We recommend the Brioche French toast doused in maple syrup and crispy bacon - delicious!

Each apartment is thoughtfully designed, combining period charm with modern touches to create a welcoming home-from-home.

With a range of options to suit couples, families, or groups of friends, Haymarket Apartments provide the perfect place to unwind after exploring the city. Plus, with Haymarket Station just a short stroll away, you’ll find yourself well connected to the rest of Edinburgh and beyond.
