Brunch, Dinner & Dessert in Edinburgh - A Three Course Itinerary.
When choosing the perfect location for food in Edinburgh, it’s fair to say that you are spoilt for choice. Everyone knows someone with a good recommendation and a short stroll through Old Town or Stockbridge with have you with a never-ending list. A good problem to have, I suppose.
But let’s skip the ambiguity of not knowing and get straight to satisfying your appetite the first time around. That’s why we thought it would only be right to put out two pence in and tell you our favourite sweet treat spots, delicious dinners and banging brunches.
Feeling Hungry? Let’s get started, shall we…
Brunch
Everyone loves a brunch, the perfect blend between a fresh breakfast and a filling lunch without having to be out the door before 10am on a supposed vacation. Brunch waits for everyone, and whether it’s a sweet dish or a savoury favourite, we have a few recommendations that we’re sure will satisfy everyone’s palate.
Starting off with a central favourite, situated on Waterloo Place just outside of ST James’ Quarter, and that is the Society Bar & Kitchen. This location offers a wide range of brunch options from pancakes to a full Scottish breakfast. Our favourite part about this brunch spot is the open kitchen where you can see your food being prepared. The décor is also worth a mention as the upstairs balcony area is scattered with beautiful greenery and modern touches, which complement the brunch perfectly.
The only caveat to this location is that booking is pretty much essential, so you kind of have to plan ahead. Even upon booking, there was still about a 10-minute wait until our table was free. The food was delicious, and the drinks we chose to complement it were perfect. We highly recommend the Bloody Mary - although maybe don’t choose the hottest spice!
Let us know if you stop for a bite to eat.
Another worthy mention is The Pantry, located just outside the infamous Circus Lane and Stockbridge centre of Edinburgh. The Pantry is perfect for a sweet tooth or a fresh avocado-lover, and we can’t get enough of it.
If you happen to stumble across this brunch hotspot, we highly recommend tasting their avocado sourdough or their delicious waffles! Let us know if you head in for a meal and what your favourite dish is.
Dinner
When it comes to dinner, there are so many options to choose from, but one of our personal favourites that caters to everyone’s requirements is Edinburgh Street Food. Situated at the bottom of St James’ Quarter next to the Playhouse, it's the perfect location for a quick bite to eat when you don’t quite know what you’re fancying.
Edinburgh Street Food offers a range of foods in an order-at-the-table service. Whether you’re fancying American, Italian, or even Japanese cuisine, there’s something there for everyone.
If you want to know our recommendations, Chix has a fantastic Chicken Burger and Mac and Cheese - you also simply cannot forget Homie’s Pizza. The best pizza in town (in our humble opinion).
Fancying more of a sit-down meal? Lil Capo is a great choice for you. Lil Capo is a gorgeous Italian restaurant just up from the heart of Stockbridge. They offer a range of delicious meals to suit all - however, make sure to book ahead because they don’t call it Lil’ for nothing!
Let us know what you think.
Ready for dessert?
Dessert
When it comes to choosing a dessert, there is no correct answer other than Chulos. Chulos in Stockbridge is a bakery that offers HUGE stuffed cookies in various flavours, which change throughout the year. Biscoff, Kinder Bueno, and so much more, it's the perfect pick if you have a sweet tooth. If a tray of cookies isn’t enough, don’t worry. They have giant stuffed cookie cakes made to your own requirements.
In our words - don’t walk, RUN.
Chulos is open on Thursdays and Fridays every week and can also be found at the infamous Stockbridge Market, so make sure to give them a try.
Finally, we couldn’t not mention Lannan Bakery on our list. If you know Edinburgh, the likelihood is you have heard of Lannan. Lannan Bakery offers luxurious baked goods that are absolutely queue-worthy. From a croissant to a staple Danish pastry, they have something for everyone.
Make sure to get there early because there sure will surely be a queue.
Well, that’s it for this month’s blog post, and we hope it was delicious.
